The rulebook
These rules govern Season 3 Championship Night. Where a situation is not covered, the tournament administration decides, and its ruling is final for the event in progress.
Format and conduct
Competition format
Season 3 ran an open ladder. Duos earned points from ranked sets against other registered duos, and the eight highest placed at the close of the season were invited to Championship Night. There is no entry fee at any point and no buy-in to compete.
Championship Night is a double elimination bracket. All eight duos start in the upper bracket. A duo that loses drops into the lower bracket and continues; a second loss eliminates it. Opening rounds are best of three, and the Upper Final, Lower Final and Grand Final are best of five.
Eligibility
- A duo must have competed under the same two players for the final four weeks of the ladder season.
- A player may appear in only one duo per season. A player who leaves a duo after the invitation date may not join another invited duo for Championship Night.
- Both players must attend The Brass Room in person. A duo that cannot field both players on site forfeits its sets for that night.
- Members of the tournament administration and the broadcast crew may not compete.
Duos and substitutes
- A duo is two players, locked at the invitation date. Ironhalt is played two on two with a tag, so there is no bench rotation mid set.
- Role labels (Point and Anchor) describe who opens a game and who closes it. They are declarative and may change between games.
- A replacement player outside the locked duo requires administration approval before the set begins and is granted only for a documented medical reason.
Set rules
- Stage selection alternates strikes, then picks, with the higher seed choosing whether to strike first.
- A set starts within ten minutes of its scheduled start time. A duo not ready after fifteen minutes forfeits the first game.
- A pause may be called for a hardware or software fault only. The administration may extend or end any pause.
- A game compromised by a confirmed fault is replayed from the start unless both duos and the administration agree otherwise.
- Results are provisional until the administration confirms them at the end of each night.
Conduct
Players and their staff are expected to treat opponents, officials and the audience with respect. Cheating, unauthorised hardware or software, deliberate disconnects, match manipulation of any kind, harassment and discriminatory language are grounds for game forfeiture, set forfeiture, or removal from the event and the ladder. The administration may act on conduct away from the stage where it affects the competition.

Prizes are awarded to the qualified duo on final placement. This is a prize for placing in a competition of skill. It is not a wager, and there is no buy-in to compete. Nothing on this website can be purchased and no entry is sold.
Shares are paid to the two registered players, who are responsible for any taxes applying where they are based. Payment is issued within sixty days of the Grand Final once placement is confirmed.
Administration and disputes
A player may raise a dispute with the administration up to thirty minutes after the set in question ends. Disputes are heard before the next set begins where possible, and the administration's ruling is final for the event in progress. These rules may be amended between seasons; any amendment applying mid season is published on this page before it takes effect.
