The bracket
Every team that loses an upper bracket match drops into the lower bracket and plays on. A team is out of the tournament only after a second loss.
How it works
Ladder season
An open ladder ran the length of Season 3. Points came from ranked sets against other registered duos. The eight highest at the close were invited. No entry fee, no buy-in, no invitations handed out by us.
Night one
The upper bracket opens with all eight duos. Losers drop to the lower bracket the same evening rather than going home, so night one ends with the upper semifinals decided.
Night two
The lower bracket runs itself out, then the Upper Final, the Lower Final and the Grand Final close the season. Finals are best of five.
Watching and asking
Every set is called live from the Gauntlet Desk, the circuit's own broadcast team, with replays posted after each night. There is no ticket, no subscription and nothing to buy. The Brass Room holds a small studio audience made up of the competing duos' travelling parties.
Is there a buy-in? No. Duos qualified on ladder points. The prize pool is awarded for placing in a competition of skill; it is not a wager and there is no buy-in to compete.
